HYDRO JETTING IN ST. PETERSBURG, FL

For all your flows, trust the Pros · St. Petersburg & Tampa Bay

Hydro jetting clears a clogged sewer or drain line by scouring it with high-pressure water — not just punching a hole through the blockage like a snake does. For recurring clogs, grease, and tree roots in St. Petersburg's older sewer lines, it's the most thorough fix there is. Flow Pros camera-inspects first, jets the line clean, and verifies the result on camera — no chemicals. Call 727-265-9639.

What Is Hydro Jetting?

Hydro jetting uses a high-pressure water stream — often around 3,000 to 4,000 PSI — fed through a specialized nozzle to blast buildup off the inside walls of a pipe and flush it away. Unlike a cable snake, which bores a hole through a clog, jetting scours the full diameter of the line back toward clean pipe.

Why it lasts longer: Snaking clears the immediate blockage; jetting removes the grease, scale, and sludge coating the pipe wall that the clog was forming on. That's why a properly jetted line stays clear far longer than a snaked one.

Hydro Jetting vs. Snaking: Which Do You Need?

Both clear clogs, but they do different jobs. A snake is fast and ideal for a single soft clog; jetting is the deeper clean for grease, roots, and recurring problems. Here's how they compare.

For a simple clogged drain, a snake often does the job. For repeat clogs or a main line full of grease and roots, jetting is the better spend.

What Hydro Jetting Clears

Jetting handles the toughest buildup that snaking leaves behind, which is why it's our go-to for main sewer lines and commercial kitchens.

  • Grease and fat — the top cause of kitchen and restaurant line clogs.
  • Tree roots — common in St. Pete's older clay and cast-iron sewer laterals under mature oaks.
  • Mineral scale from our hard water, narrowing the pipe over time.
  • Sludge and debris built up along the full length of the line.

When Hydro Jetting Isn't the Right Call

Hydro jetting is powerful, and that's exactly why it isn't always the answer. Old, corroded cast-iron or fragile Orangeburg pipe — common in pre-1990 St. Petersburg homes — can be damaged by high pressure if it's already breaking down.

That's why we run a camera inspection first. If the pipe is sound, we jet it. If it's collapsing or root-shattered, jetting won't hold and we'll talk through main line repair or replacement instead. Honest diagnosis saves you from paying to jet a pipe that needs replacing.

Our Hydro Jetting Process

We don't jet blind. Every job follows the same camera-verified process so you can see the before and after.

  1. Camera inspection to locate the blockage and confirm the pipe can handle jetting.
  2. Hydro jetting the line at the right pressure for the pipe and clog.
  3. Re-inspection with the camera to verify the line is fully clear.

For recurring problems, this is also part of our sewer & drain service, and we can set up preventative jetting on a schedule.

Commercial & Preventative Jetting

Hydro jetting cost depends on the line's size, length, and how heavy the buildup is, and we quote it after the camera inspection. For St. Petersburg restaurants and businesses, scheduled jetting is the cheapest insurance against a grease backup that shuts you down during service.

We jet lines for commercial properties and homes alike, and financing is available on larger sewer jobs.

Hydro Jetting FAQs

How much does hydro jetting cost?
It depends on the line's size and length and how heavy the buildup is, so we quote it after a camera inspection rather than guessing. A straightforward residential drain costs less than a long, grease-packed commercial main. Flow Pros gives you a firm price before starting, and financing is available on larger sewer jobs.
Is hydro jetting safe for old pipes?
It is for sound pipe, but not always for old, corroded cast-iron or fragile Orangeburg lines common in pre-1990 St. Petersburg homes. That's why we always run a camera inspection first. If the pipe is structurally sound we jet it safely; if it's already failing, we recommend repair or replacement instead of jetting.
Hydro jetting vs. snaking — which is better?
It depends on the clog. Snaking is quick and ideal for a single soft blockage; it bores a hole through the clog. Hydro jetting scours the full pipe wall, removing grease, roots, and scale, so it lasts much longer and is better for recurring clogs or main lines. For a one-off clogged sink, a snake usually suffices.
Can hydro jetting remove tree roots?
Yes. Hydro jetting cuts through and flushes out the fine root masses that invade sewer laterals, which is common in St. Petersburg's older clay and cast-iron lines under mature trees. For large roots or a cracked pipe letting roots back in, we use a camera inspection to decide whether jetting alone is enough or the line needs repair.
How often should I hydro jet my drains?
For most homes, only when there's a recurring problem. For restaurants and commercial kitchens with heavy grease, scheduled jetting every few months prevents backups during business hours. We can recommend an interval based on what the camera shows in your specific lines.
